Engineer's Week 2025

Image
We had loads of fun for Engineer's week. We looked at amazing things designed by engineers from all around the world. The children were then given the task to use their own imagination and become engineers in the classroom. They came up with some amazing creations. We did an engineer's week task at home this week and I was blown away by all the very imaginative creations e.g. shark boats, junk robots, tall towers, castles, bridges, boats, names, marble mazes, animal enclosure and houses of cards. We also visited Ms. Mitchell's 4th class to see the buildings they made. The Junior Infants had to ask them questions about the very cool buildings and landmarks they created (all from Japan). It was a great week!

Engineer's Week - Rapunzel

Image
It was Engineer's week this week and Junior Infants really enjoyed exploring this. We talked about the job of the engineer and looked at amazing feats of engineering from around the world. We read the story 'Rapunzel' and tried to come up with lots of ways to help her escape from the tower. The children drew their ideas and then created them using a range of toys and materials. One girl made a pair of magic wings to help Rapunzel escape. Another made a pair of magic glasses. Other ideas included ziplines, walls, slides, stairs, ladders as well as contraptions to stop the witch. I think there are definitely some future engineers in this class!
