It's Maths week this week and Junior Infants have been working hard at counting. We had four different maths stations in our classroom based on counting and shapes.
We were very busy last week exploring measures in Junior Infants. We were exploring capacity and have been learning about - full, empty, half full, almost full and almost empty. Junior Infants had lots of fun at the water, sand and rice station exploring these concepts. They were excellent at comparing containers and using the new words to describe their containers. We also explored length and height at two stations where children built tall towers, long snakes and long chains. Again, they were excellent at comparing different towers and chains using their maths vocabulary e.g. long, longer, longest, short, shorter, shortest, tall, taller, tallest. Look at the lovely steps going from short to tall. Super work! What a long chain! Empty, half full and full containers. Super work! Empty and full containers! Comparing two towers using our words short, tall, taller. Comparing two snakes! Great job Putting the snakes in order from shortest to longest
Today was Friday Fun Day! The Juniors were so excited to see their classroom transformed for the day with all the tables moved to the back of the room. We sang some Christmas songs, played musical statues, did some yoga, listened to some lovely stories, had a picnic in our classroom and had some playtime. It was lots of fun!
